Strictly speaking, a CTA colossus blade has better dps in this situation as it has a base speed of 5 and thus and effective speed of -35 which hits the 4 frame breakpoint. Since CTA gives -40 IAS and a fairly sizeable %ED this means that the runeword is largely wasted on a PB (low base damage, -30 attack speed natively). Swords are always treated as a 1 handed weapon for WW, even if you are two handing it otherwise. WW only benefits from IAS on the weapon and the only breakpoint that matters is -34% for a 4 frame attack with a 1H weapon and -30 or -60 for 5 and 4 frame attacks with a 2H weapon. You have some knowledge of the game, you are just wrong on this.ĬTA isn't really what you want for a barbarian but if you're set on it: I actually think you and I could get along. Colossus Blade, factoring perfect rolls, is the better Sword base. Again the coolness is not a deciding factor, Colossus Blade is better and it's cool. Not only do you get (marginally) better damage, you get the increased range, and a bonus of cool factor. This is a game after all and cool is a factor. I'm not implying that 2 hand WW is better. The Phase Blade will mean the lower movement speed is much more important. What other specific gear are you talking about that you need to make Colossus Blade viable? Phase Blade needs more specific gear due to its lower range. I will repeat, if we are factoring the best which we are supposed too, we aren't looking at jank rolls. You don't have the noob argument to fall back on. It's like you do know some stuff but are just completely wrong on other stuff. Honestly, stop giving advice on WW, you clearly just showed up, haven't done any research, and want everyone to do what you like off of 'feel.' In order for a 2her to edge out DW dmg for WW, it would need to do on the order of 70% more dmg than the 1h dmg. The cost there isn't in gold, it's massive. And again, the increase is marginal at best and ONLY in certain circumstances (i.e. Factoring IN range, The ONLY thing that CAN edge out dual phase blade is dual Colossus Blade, but you need GG IAS roll on the grief AS WELL AS a GG dmg roll, in addition to other specific gear, to make that work better than dual phase blade grief. The math's been done on this, and it's decades old. It seems like maybe you've just started playing D2R and think you've got it all figured out. Shows your lack of knowledge on the situation. Phase Blade has a short range which is not good for WW.Ĭolossus Blade can be used 2 handed as well if you wanted too. It is great for many characters but a WW Barb it is not. Phase Blade is 1 handed, Indestructible, and can roll 6os. It is only 1 handed though so you lose the option to use it as a 2 hander for boosted damage. It has a max of 4os.Ĭonquest Sword has the same average damage as Colossus Blade and Balrog Blade. Breath of the Dying gives 60 IAS but requires 6os so Colossus Blade is the best option.īalrog Blade has the same average damage as Colossus Blade. Colossus Blade can roll 6os and is the only Elite sword other than Phase Blade to do so. Any sword that gives 39+ but under 44 should be put in this. Oath is a good example.Ĭolossus Blade is next. Any Runeword with 44 or more IAS requiring 5os or less should absolutely go in this base. It requires 44 WIAS (Weapon Increased Attack Speed) to hit the last WW BP. It is the highest damage sword available. This means that you want to use the highest damage base that will hit the last WW BP.Ĭolossus Sword should always be the first stop. Any other IAS from gear is wasted for WW. Whirlwind only factors IAS on the weapon itself.
